3.7 v 500mah lipo

Postby chad1 » Wed Mar 18, 2015 6:02 pm

I used a lipo that is common in most mid size 3 ch helicopters. Its a fullymax 3.7 volt 500 mah lipo with a jst plug. I ran the car for 60 min, my lap times stayed around 5 seconds on a track made from two stage 1 sets. The lower voltage (3.7v) compared to AAA (4.5v) is compensated by a reduction in weight.

Nice work, I never got back to my experimentation, good to see it works at the lower voltage
Can't wait for my Pro Racing Set Ultimate + Pro-Racing Track Upgrade...

Cheers mate! At first I wasn't too worried about trying the lipo mainly because the standard batteries give great performance (fast and the longest run time I have EVER seen) but then the hobbyist bug bit me..... RFX is the best model car racing system ever created! :)

What about the NiZn accu Type? Did anybody try one of these? They have the big advantage of having 1.6V which is closed to the standard 1.5. Capacity is around 550 mAh for a AAA cell, which is less than the the typical 800 mAh for a NiMH, but you should be able to use them till the very end. So it should be ok for at least 2h of driving i guess, with additional driving speed over NiMH accus.
