I am Back :) and I just released Version 0.2 of the track editor.

New:
- Track Piece Editor -> there are buttons to automatically set the piece count for starter/pro sets, only change the other values if you know what you are doing :)
- Automatch feature -> automatically closes a track with the lowest number of pieces

Not Yet:
- optimized piece sizes

And there is a Mac OS Version :)

Win: http://www.gacel.de/bilder/realfx/TrackEditor.zip
Mac: http://www.gacel.de/bilder/realfx/TrackEditor.app.zip (just unzip in any folder and start)

Have Fun.

:D Thanks a million for the update. It's a great program which does the job simply and very efficiently. We're very lucky to have access to this tool. I've used it a lot and also found it very useful for keeping a record of tracks used.

The two new features are welcome additions, especially the Automatch which gives a selection of possible combinations to close the track.

Cheers,

New Version 0.9 Beta (download links see last release)

New:
- much better images (thanks Graeme)
- better piece data (error should be less than 1/10 mm per piece of track)
- option to include a background image (1px = 1cm), make a map of your room and squeeze a maximum length track in)
- changes (tracks.txt/pieces.txt) are stored in the correct folder ( appdata for win and user folder for mac), this makes it possible to update with loosing existing tracks (if you already have tracks make sure to save the tracks.txt before overwriting)
- application icon
- automatic update of the track library while editing
- some bugfixes (negative angles in piece editor, typos...)

Most features I planned are now implemented. So next release is probably just some polishing/bug fixes for the 1.0

Here it is 1.0 Beta :)

New:
- optional ruler display (to see the size of the track)
- optional display of the cursor position in the track, this helps with editing larger tracks (small orange dot)
- option to only use available parts in automatch
- changed the background color
- increased the internal resolution by 10, existing pieces.txt wont work, if you have edited pieces or count values delete the old pieces.txt in the user folder (not the application)
- pieces have a "next" field, used for double pieces like the pitlane when double clicking and the automatch
- length display (not very accurate)
- density display ( "track length/area used" )
- some bugfixes

Same download urls as above.

I am curious : Where do you get the extra track to be able to make these tracks?

Great looking track editor program.

Real FX Racing was a Kickstarter project:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/wo ... em-with-ai

They offered a "Standard" and a "Pro" set with 2 or 4 cars. The Pro set contains the R2 curves, a bottle neck, the flyover parts and some more used for the big tracks.
With two pro sets it is possible to build somthing like this:
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=68

Right now it is only possible to buy the standard set from Hammacher (as far as I know).

I expect some product announcements for christmas at the latest and a much wider availability (shops/countries).
Wow labs has been presenting Real FX at several toy shows (like London and Nuremberg) to potential distributors.

V1 beta works well and looks really good with the new track piece images. Just a suggestion under the "nice to have but not essential" category: it would be useful to have a notes box so that you could record things like best lap times by layout.

Edit: Just realised I can use the track name box for the lap times & notes :)
